Ajay Prakash Sawhney
Mr. Sawhney served as the Secretary to the Government of India at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology from 2017 to 2022.
Mr. Sawhney has been credited with strengthening the digital India initiative through policy reforms that have made India the largest manufacturing hub in the world for mobile and consumer electronics companies.
Mr. Sawhney’s past experiences include appointments as the Deputy Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum, and Chair and CEO of Oil India. His work led to unprecedented growth in the IT infrastructure of Hyderabad, India and laid the foundation for digital identification and payment systems used by the Indian government.He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
