Mr. Phongthep Thepkanjana was the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand from 2012 to 2014 under the former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. Before Mr. Phongthep took the office of Deputy Prime Minister, he also held numerous ministerial posts, including the Minister of Education, Minister of Justice, Minister of Energy and Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister. In addition, Mr. Phongthep was a former member of the House of Representative of Thailand and was a member of the 1997 constitution drafting assembly.
Mr. Phongthep earned a Bachelor of Laws from Thammasat University, a Master of Comprehensive Law from George Washington University Law School, and a Barrister at Law from the Thai Bar.
